For my first rant, I'd like to rage about the idiots who inhabit the roads. Drivers, cabbies, pedestrians, cyclists, bus drivers, and any other idiot I've missed.
Drivers who don't signal they're going to turn right at traffic lights. So I cruise up behind them, thinking they're going where I'm going, i.e., straight ahead. Then the traffic light turns green, and the moron decides to then signal that they are going to turn right. But guess what, dickweed? Now you've got me and a bunch of other cars stuck behind you because you failed to signal your intentions in the first place -- had we known that you were going to turn, we would have gone onto another lane, not wait behind you. So I waste another few minutes of my life sitting on your arse while you wait to turn right, you inconsiderate dick.
Cabbies and bus drivers who think they can stop wherever the fuck they want. Bus drivers, I've got a bit more patience with, I mean they are driving the huge monsters with predetermined areas where they have to pull over. It's when they block off two lanes of traffic because of their bad pull-over skills, it really shits me. Seriously, you're supposed to be a public service, act like it, instead of being a public nuisance.
And what is it with cab drivers that just block off whole lanes of traffic while their passenger fumbles with wallets and purses and spare change? Even worse, I've been stuck behind cabbies who decide that stopping dead in the middle of a one-lane road is OK. What the fuck? You think putting on your hazard lights makes it fine to block traffic for a fare? This will sound ignorant or stupid or whatever, and I don't care, but here is my theory: Most cabbies are new immigrants from countries where it's OK to pull up anywhere on the road, blocking all traffic, while they tend to a fare. So that stupid driving mentality prevails here too.
And passengers, for fucks sake, have an ounce of common sense and tell that too-stupid cabbie to pull over where they are not going to block traffic that's already congested. Seriously, how many times have I seen cabbies blocking traffic when there is a perfect little nook for them to pull into just a few metres away. Are you so fucking lazy or stupid that you can't instruct your cabbie to pull over where it's not annoying to other drivers, even if it means you have to spend a few extra seconds walking your lazy arse? I mean, I figure if you're catching a cab in your smart suit, that whoever employed you must have thought you'd have a fucking brain.
And it's probably the council's fault too, for not doing anything about stupid cabbies and/or passengers blocking traffic, and not providing proper infrastructure where cabbies are not being annoying, i.e., cab ranks.
OK, that's a good first rant for now. I thought it would be therapeutic, but it's actually not. And I think that's because I can't type as fast as I'd like to rant, and, dear Lord, I've got so much to rant about.
